IIRP's 11th World Conference held October 22-24, 2008, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

ON08 LogoThe 11th IIRP World Conference, "Restoring Community in a Disconnected World," was held October 22-24, 2008, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 516 participants from 16 countries attended, including those from 10 Canadian provinces and territories and 17 of the continental United States. This interdisciplinary conference, featuring 120 breakout sessions, provided an international perspective on restorative practices theory and practice in a variety of settings, from education to social welfare to criminal justice.

NVC Restorative Justice Circles Workshop scheduled for October 24-28, 2008, in St. Paul, Minnesota

Dominic Barter from Brazil will lead this workshop on the integration of "Nonviolent Communication" (NVC) and restorative justice principles, as applied in his work with the Brazilian justice and education systems. The workshop will be held at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, Oct. 24-28. (Barter will also be a featured speaker at the upcoming IIRP conference in Toronto.)

Western New York Restorative Justice Coalition to hold conference, October 28-29, 2009

The 5th Annual WNYRJ Coalition Conference — "Walking after Midnight: Conflict, Community and Restorative Justice" — will be held at The College at Brockport (State University of New York), Brockport, N.Y., on October 28-29, 2009. The keynote speaker will be Katy Hutchison, restorative justice advocate and author of Walking After Midnight.

About 350 participants from 18 countries attended the IIRP's 2007 conference in Budapest, Hungary, on November 7-9, 2007.
