The IIRP conducts a three-day Training of Trainers (TOT) to teach experienced practitioners how to facilitate the "Facilitating Restorative Conferences" training. Once trained, participants will be certified to provide these trainings for approved IIRP licensees. Trainers must be affiliated with a licensee to provide trainings in their district, organization or area.
(The IIRP also offers trainer certification and licensure for our "core" trainings — "Introduction to Restorative Practices" and "Using Circles Effectively." More information here.)
- Attend the "Facilitating Restorative Conferences" training.
If you have yet to attend this training, you can register for upcoming dates here.
- Facilitate actual conferences using this model.
- Complete the information form here to begin the Training of Trainers process.
An IIRP representative will contact you.
- Attend the three-day Training of Trainers.
These are scheduled throughout the year at the IIRP's Bethlehem campus. See upcoming dates here. The training of trainers can also be held on-site at your organization with a minimum of four (4) participants.
- Be observed and finally certified by an IIRP master trainer when you hold your first training.
This is an opportunity to receive extra support for your first training and receive useful feedback on providing the best-quality training.
The IIRP offers the opportunity for individuals and organizations to become licensed to provide the "Facilitating Restorative Conferences" training.
For organizations that have already held some amount of on-site training from the IIRP, this will provide a cost-effective way to continue to train new staff by becoming capable of providing this high-quality training "in-house." For others, it provides a way to initiate the implementation of restorative practices in your setting or conduct training in your locale.
- Call the IIRP at 1-610-807-9221 or complete the form here to request licensing information.
- Submit a Licensing Agreement to the IIRP outlining the potential target audience—who and where you would like to train.
The IIRP will ask that this be narrowly defined, such as within a specific organization or limited geographical area.
- Agree to all terms of the Licensing Agreement.
- Submit the finalized Licensing Agreement to the IIRP and pay the $100 licensing fee.
All licenses are renewed annually at the same rate.
Also, licensees must purchase two books for each trainee attending the facilitator training, the cost of which is passed on to trainees in the tuition that the licensee charges for the training. The first book is the Conferencing Handbook, which provides procedural information. The second, Real Justice, presents actual stories about the use of conferencing in a variety of contexts, providing encouragement and hopefully inspiration to new trainees. The current price is $40 US per trainee for both books.
