The June 3, 2010 article talks about how the city of Hull is implementing restorative practices in all child and youth education, justice and social services across the city and also gives details on the IIRP's October 13-15 international conference, which will be held in various locations throughout Hull.

The April 28, 2010 issue of the Amherst Daily News has covered IIRP Canada director Bruce Schenk’s presentations to school staff, students and parents about restorative practices, in advance of bringing the practices to the district.

Skills for Justice, in partnership with the Restorative Justice Consortium, the Office for Criminal Justice Reform, Norfolk Constabulary and the Association of Panel Members announces a programme to pilot a new qualification in restorative practices: an opportunity for practitioners to gain formal recognition for their skills in restorative practices. Both paid workers and volunteers are encouraged to sign up. Funding may be available to take part in this pilot. Two information workshops are scheduled, 1st April in London and 20th April in Birmingham.

Restorative practices are credited for reducing suspensions in the Durham District School Board. Suspension rates for the first term of the 2009-2010 school year are lower in both secondary and elementary schools, as reported in the Durham News. The January 19, 2010 program, Metro Morning Parenting, hosted by Karen Horsman, broadcast part two of a piece about restorative practices in schools. This segment focused on an anti-bullying program at the Durham District School Board’s Sinclair High School, in Whitby, Ontario, which employs talking circles to impart empathy and respect. The program features an interview with Sinclair’s vice principal Susan Jones. IIRP Canada director Bruce Schenk is bringing restorative practices to the Durham District School Board. The focus of PASAP is "assisting youth who are at-risk to find the strength in overcoming the barriers to success." The conference is March 7, 8, and 9, 2010 at the Penn Stater Conference Center, in State College, PA. 2010 marks the 25th year of the PASAP and the 20th conference.

Two Philadelphia schoolteachers, members of the Teacher Action Group, wrote an op-ed piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer saying that they would like to see restorative practices employed to handle the recent violent conflict between Asian- and African-American students at South Philadelphia High School, as well as district wide “to make meaningful change and prevent violence in every school in the city.”

The Restorative Justice Consortium, the national voice for restorative practices in England and Wales, is looking to hire a director. We have two key roles — to support the work of our members — practitioners, trainers and service providers — and to promote restorative practice in the media, with the public and with government.

The deadline for applications is 16th December 2009.
Interviews will take place on Monday 21st December in London.

The Philadelphia Public School Notebook, a publication that covers education in Philadelphia, has published an article by Ron Whitehorne about how restorative practices, as introduced by the IIRP, have helped build community and reduce discipline problems at West Philadelphia HIgh School.
